Dan was guest curator for the "Earth, Fire and Water" metals exhibit at Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum, Milwaukee, in 2000. Presently, Dan is on the Board of Directors and was Second Vice President for ABANA, and is the chairman for the ABANA Educational Programs committee. Dan also hosts an annual blacksmith’s conference in September, with demonstrators from around the country.

In 1993 Dan went into forging full time, operating shops in Kewaskum and Cedarburg, WI. A third shop in Baileys Harbor, WI was in operation from 1995 to 2001, but was closed to concentrate on the Cedarburg and Kewaskum operations. Dan has been fortunate to forge architectural ironwork for several notable homes and buildings. Some of these include the Captain Frederick Pabst Mansion, and Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum, in Milwaukee, WI; The Herman Uihlein Mansion (Kailas and Becky Rao) in Whitefish Bay, WI; The Executive Residence in Madison, WI; and former Governor Patrick Lucey in River Hills, WI, among others. Dan forges gates, railings, furniture, lighting, fireplace equipment, door hardware, sculptural work and more. Using methods in the tradition of the old world craftsmen, he utilizes many facets of the trade broadening his vocabulary of styles.
